On Thursday 19th March, we return to Bio Bristol in Sundbyberg for a special screening of one of the most acclaimed and talked-about films of the past year: Sirat, the latest work from visionary French-born Galician filmmaker Oliver Laxe.As always, the film will be shown with English subtitles, and we’ll gather afterwards in Bristol’s welcoming café bar to meet, connect, and share reflections on the film together.

ABOUT THE FILM
In Sirat, a father and his young son arrive at a remote desert rave in southern Morocco, searching for their missing daughter and sister, who vanished months earlier. Surrounded by vast landscapes and communities living on the fringes of society, they follow whispers and uncertain leads, joining a small group of travellers heading deeper into the wilderness. As their journey unfolds, hope and desperation begin to blur, and the emotional weight of their search begins to take its toll.
With his signature visual intensity and emotional restraint, Oliver Laxe creates a powerful cinematic experience that is as hypnotic as it is deeply human. The film has been widely praised for its stark beauty, immersive sound design, and profound sense of atmosphere.
Following its premiere on the international festival circuit, Sirat won major awards at several prestigious film festivals, including top honours at Cannes, and has since been recognised as one of the most daring and uncompromising films of the year. Critics have hailed it as a work of rare emotional and visual power — a film that demands to be experienced on the big screen.
