SICC are pleased to announce a special screening of The Secret Agent, and our long awaited return to Bio Aspen, on Tuesday 3rd March. This acclaimed political thriller from Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho is one of the most talked-about films of this season, with multiple Cannes awards alongside Oscar nominations to its name, so is not one to miss!As always, the film will be screened with English subtitles, and we’ll gather afterwards in Aspen’s bar to meet, connect, and chat about the film together.

ABOUT THE FILM
"Set in Brazil in 1977 during the country’s military dictatorship, The Secret Agent follows Marcelo (Wagner Moura), a former professor caught in political turmoil as he attempts to flee persecution and reunite with his son in the frenetic city of Recife. Director Kleber Mendonça Filho blends neo-noir politics, rich period detail, and a deeply humane central performance to create a sprawling drama about resistance, survival, and the personal cost of authoritarian rule.
The film was widely celebrated at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, winning awards for Best Director, Best Actor, and multiple critics’ prizes, and has since earned multiple Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and Best Actor for Moura. Bloated with atmosphere and political urgency, The Secret Agent has been praised for its striking visuals, haunting score, and its deeply felt reflection on power, memory, and resistance."
