Description
Sibo Bangoura, West African griot and master drummer, will bring his infectious smile, big energy and funky West African grooves to Lake Macquarie!
Join Djembe Alchemy and Sibo for some exciting West African drumming and dance workshops. Try a beginners workshop and see what West African rhythms and culture has to offer, further your djembe journey with some new solo phrases in the Experienced workshop or work up a sweat in the beginner friendly dance workshop, or if you’re up for it, challenge yourself and try out all three!
About the levels
The Beginners drumming class is just that, completely open and accessible to anyone including those that have never picked up a drum before, but also a great opportunity for those with a bit of experience to get some tuition directly from a genuine griot master drummer, and to brush up on technique.
The Experienced drumming class is open to anyone but will be higher paced and targetted at those with some experence behind them. If you’ve played before but not sure if you’re ready, then give it a go anyway, you will be surprised at what you can achieve when you step into it with a good teacher.
The Open (Beginner friendly) dance class accompanied by live drumming, is open to anyone, no dance experience necessary. It will provide a good workout for those with West African dance experience and is a great introduction to African dance.
All classes are sure to challenge you mentally and physically in a light hearted way with Sibo’s fun sense of humour, soft teaching approach and friendly accepting manner.
