Information
Rautavaara: Cantus Arcticus Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3 Sibelius: Symphony No. 2 When did Beethoven, slowly growing deaf and in considerable despair, begin shaking a fist at his fate? Many cite his intense yet tender Piano Concerto No. 3, performed by Jeneba Kanneh-Mason in her TFO debut. In contrast is Sibelius? popular Symphony No. 2, rich in the character and grandeur of the composer?s Finnish homeland, building to one of the most glorious symphony finales. The concert begins with Rautavaara?s Cantus Arcticus, a mesmerizing fusion of live orchestral textures and recorded birdsong captured from the marshes of Northern Finland. Free Pre-Concert Conversations: Start 1 hour before the performance in the concert hall. Sponsored by The Ruth & J O Stone Foundation.
