About The Qualities of Children that We Thought Were Stronger Than Bombs...
The Qualities of Children that We Thought Were Stronger Than Bombs is the story of the time before a bomb killed a child. It may have been a moment, a day, a week, or a year before. It is a story that is meant to celebrate their lives and the absolute genius of childhood. Peace is the opposite of war, but childhood can seem like a truer opposite, a more tangible one, and this book seeks to make a case for that possibility.
Siamak Vossoughi is an Iranian-American writer living in Seattle. His first short story collection, Better Than War, received a 2014 Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction and his second, A Sense of the Whole, received the 2019 Orison Fiction Prize. He teaches in the College of Education at the University of Washington.
