Shuttleworth Lecture 2026

The East of England Agricultural Society are pleased to announce the speaker for the evening will be CEO of Velcourt, Nick Shorter

Nick has been with Velcourt since 2001 and has managed a number of farms across the UK and Eastern Europe, overseeing dairy, arable and fresh produce enterprises. In 2014 Nick was appointed to the Velcourt board during which time he oversaw the growth of Velcourt’s national agronomy business and held responsibility for HR, L&D and Velcourt’s graduate management training programme.

Nick was appointed Managing Director of Velcourt Ltd, where he oversaw all Velcourt’s UK farming operations in arable, fresh produce, livestock and dairy farming extending to 56,000 ha of managed farms, 30,000 ha of agronomy advice and 10,000 dairy cows. In October 2024 Nick was appointed Velcourt Group’s CEO where he now leads the group’s three companies of Velcourt Ltd, Oakbank Ltd and Bronwin and Abbey Ltd who supply management services and advice to the farming game, stewardship and forestry industries respectively.

In November 2024 Nick was awarded the IAgrM Annual Farm Management Award for outstanding career contribution to the advancement of farm management. Nick is also Vice-chair of Governors at Sparsholt and Andover College Group.
