SHPE DC Tour of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)

Explore the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland and get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the nation’s leading research institutions dedicated to advancing measurement science, standards, and technology.

NIST plays a critical role in supporting innovation across industries such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and quantum science.

During this visit, participants will:

• Gain insight into NIST’s mission and impact
• Learn about current research initiatives
• Connect with fellow members of the SHPE and STEM professionals across the DMV region

To participate in the SHPE DC tour of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), attendees must complete two required steps:

1️⃣ Eventbrite Registration Deadline
Register for the event on Eventbrite by 30 March 2026 at 11:59pm.

2️⃣ NIST Visitor Registration
All participants must complete the NIST visitor registration to access the campus. During registration, you will be asked whether you are a U.S. citizen, along with other standard security information. The registration link will be provided directly to attendees by the SHPE DC lead organizer after the Eventbrite resgistration deadline has passed.

Please note that completion of the NIST visitor registration is required for campus entry. Individuals who do not complete the registration may not be permitted to participate in the tour.

Additional details regarding the meeting location, schedule, and logistics will be shared with registered participants closer to the event date by the SHPE DC lead organizer.
