Shoulder to Shoulder Rally: We Are All Treaty PeopleOn Tuesday, March 3 at 12 p.m., join over 50 Mi’kmaw and settler groups from communities throughout Nova Scotia at the N.S. Legislature as we call on the Houston government to respect Mi’kmaw Rights, follow democratic processes and stop selling off Nova Scotia to corporate interests!
In November, hundreds of citizens showed up to the first Shoulder to Shoulder rally to demand better from our leaders. But since then, our government has doubled down on attacks against Mi’kmaw Treaty Rights, trying to divide our communities and pushing for short-sighted, dangerous resource extraction - so we’re bringing our voices directly to their doorstep!
Meet on Granville Street behind the N.S. Legislature building at 12 p.m. Bring your community banners, signs, flags and regalia. Bring your drums, songs and prayers. Together, we stand once again in solidarity with the land defenders and water protectors of Tqamuoweye’katik / Hunter’s Mountain, and all resistance movements in Nova Scotia.
We’re not giving up.
We’re not backing down.
“Nature has rights - humans have responsibilities.” - Dr. / Elder Albert Marshall
“If you live, work, play or pray in Nova Scotia, we want you there. We want to hear your voices.” - Mi’kmaw land defenders Michelle Paul and Glenda Junta
