Shoulder Freedom for Yogis

If you experience shoulder tension, instability, or discomfort in your yoga practice, this 90-minute immersive workshop is designed for you.
We’ll begin with a 45-minute intentional yoga class led by Matt, focused on common shoulder-involved poses such as Downward Dog, Plank, Chaturanga, and overhead shapes. This class will help you feel and experience where tension shows up, while exploring smart alignment, strength, and awareness in poses you already know.
Following the practice, Dr. Felipe Castro, PT, DPT, CSCS will lead a 45-minute educational, movement-based lecture, breaking down how the shoulders actually work — and why they often feel overloaded in yoga.
Rather than stretching alone, Dr. Felipe will guide you through a practical approach to improving shoulder mobility, stability, and control, so your practice feels lighter, stronger, and more supported.
What you’ll learn:
Why shoulder tension and discomfort often persist despite stretching
How the shoulder blades, ribs, and breath influence shoulder function
Simple drills to improve stability and reduce strain in yoga poses
How to make transitions feel more controlled and effortless
This workshop blends yoga practice + physical therapy principles, helping you connect what you feel on the mat with how your body actually moves.
