Charlie joins a boot camp to become a national hero and gets posted to the front lines in France. He captures 13 Germans and rescues a French girl but later realizes that it was just a dream. The film was very revolutionary for its time, introducing a new genre of comedy. Previously, films had treated war as a serious subject. This is believed to be the first comedy film about war. Recently restored by the Museum of Modern Art.
