Short Film Screenings

Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.

Marigold

Hindi with English Subtitles (18 mins)

A story of love, silence and the chaos within an overthinker’s mind. Marigold reminds us that sometimes it is not distance, but doubt, that pulls us apart.

Directed by Samay Bhattacharya

Long Drive

Hindi with English Subtitles (12 mins)

Set within an unconventional dynamic, Long Drive explores the story of a single mother who has chosen a live-in partner and is equally accepting of the same for her sons. Their relationship is defined by affection, intimacy and open communication, often expressed through conversations about food and restaurants. As their stories unfold, it becomes clear that they mirror each other, facing similar struggles in their respective relationships, allowing the film to present a layered and balanced understanding of its characters.

Directed by Sudarshan

Annayude Yatra

Malayalam with English Subtitles (15 mins)

The film explores tender human relationships from the lens of its protagonist. Anna is a middle-aged woman from an upper middle-class background; educated, married and the mother of a teenage girl. One day, she books a cab ride to meet the most important people in her life. She gets friendly with the cab driver and they indulge in jovial banter, sharing their own perspectives on life. Anna makes various pitstops during the ride to meet the people in her inner circle and talk about the unresolved matters in her relationships with each of them. Each pitstop unfolds their stories while providing Anna an opportunity to tell hers, ultimately giving her the closure she had been seeking.

Directed by Rahul Vellithodi

The screening will be followed by a Q&A session.
