COME EARLY FOR THE FREE PANCAKES, WATCH THE SKYDIVERS AND HONOR OUR NATION'S FALLEN WITH A VERY SPECIAL AND UNIQUE CEREMONY.
This is a wonderful opportunity to teach children WHY we recognize Memorial Day.
8-9:30am - Free pancakes, coffee & juice provided by HyVee & served by Anchor Corps volunteers
9:50am - Skydivers will bring in the colors
10 am - Short Days Ago We Lived Ceremony
The annual ceremony will be held at the lower part of the park near Dodge Street with seating for 1,000 under a covered tent and will include reenactors from various wars to honor our fallen. Volunteers driving golf carts will be happy to shuttle people to and from the ceremony site.
A free pancake breakfast will be offered prior to the ceremony to help us all enjoy each other's company and freedom paid at a high cost by 1,300,000 Fallen Americans.
A Flanders Field of Flags will be prominent on the landscape of Memorial Park for Memorial Day weekend. Each flag will represent 1,000 of our fellow Americans who fell fighting for our nation's freedom. Encircling the flags will be an encampment of military historians and reenactors with their military equipment.
In addition to Flanders Field of Flags, the National Remembering Our Fallen memorial will be on site near the 22-foot Purple Heart Balloon and half-size replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Patriotic Productions was asked to plan the Memorial Day Ceremony at Memorial Park beginning in 2025, and we are very honored to continue doing so.
A very special thank you to the individuals who portrayed America's Fallen from its major wars and to the Gold Star family members who shared their stories.
