Sholi Top Lot: A cupping and talk on the Sholi Cooperative
Talk by Caravan Coffee Roasters with Jamie (Head of Coffee), Meels (Roastery Manager), and Cat (Specialty Community Development Manager)
Join us at the Manchester Roastery for an evening of cupping, beers and conversation as we celebrate the work of Sholi Cooperative in Rwanda and the women at the heart of it.
We’ll be sampling our newly released Sholi Top Lot and hearing from our team, Jamie, Cat and Meels, as they share insights from their 2025 visit and our ongoing partnership with the cooperative.

Whats the SHOLI TOP LOT?
Abateraninkunga ba Sholi (meaning "Mutual Assitance") Cooperative is based in the Muhanga region of central Rwanda. Founded in 2008 by 30 women farmers as a small association, it has grown into an autonomous cooperative of more than 2,000 members. Caravan began working with Sholi in 2020, sourcing both washed and natural coffees for our core blends. But this particular lot is something truly special.
Each year, Caravan and Sholi host a competition among cooperative members. Natural process coffees scoring 87+ points on the SCA scale are entered and cupped by both the Sholi quality team and Caravan’s roasting team. In 2025, Jamie, Meels and Attila travelled to Rwanda to take part in this process. The highest-scoring coffees are combined to create this exceptional release, The Sholi Top Lot.
Farmers behind these outstanding coffees receive a secondary premium payment. In addition, at the producers’ own suggestion, each winning farmer is awarded a goat, with both incentives funded by Caravan. It’s always an exciting moment when the Sholi Top Lot arrives at the roastery, and we’re mega excited to be sharing this with you!
