We look forward to gathering for the 28th annual Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi ceremony on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2026. In line with our theme, “Many Rivers, One Ocean,” the ceremony provides a space for people of all backgrounds to come together as a community and remember fallen military members and loved ones, in a spirit of reflection, gratitude and healing.
The ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Whether it’s your first time, or you’ve come every year, all are welcome to take part at Ala Moana Beach Park. For those participating remotely, the ceremony will be shown by our broadcast partner, @khonnews, and livestreamed on YouTube and our website.
Individual Lanterns may be requested first-come, first-served from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or while supplies last. A dedicated lantern request line for military personnel is again available this year. Messages of remembrance for the Collective Remembrance Lanterns may be written at the beach or submitted online ahead of time.
