Greetings. So excited you’re interested in the mushroom log workshop. You will learn how to plug logs to grow shiitake mushrooms and will take home a log(s) all plugged and ready to go. There will be extra logs for you to plug available for purchase if you like. Along with hands on experience and detailed instruction, I will also provide written instructions for care of your log(s) over the course of the next several years as it provides mushrooms for you. It’s a good forum for continuing to learn about the fascinating world of mushroom growing.
Don’t worry, it’s as simple as watering and proper placement in your environment. Oh yeah, and patience. Like asparagus and fruit trees, mushroom logs take time and patience to produce. Once they begin producing, you can enjoy them for several years.
The workshop will be held in the garden space at the NW corner of 17th and Summit Street on the Westside just south of downtown Kansas City Mo at 11a. There is a small parking lot for the space on Summit you are free to use. Plenty of street parking. The actual address is 1662 Summit Street.
This will be an outdoor event so please dress appropriately. Possibly have a big fire going if needed. If it’s raining, snowing or excessively cold, I will postpone to the following weekend.
I do try to keep workshops limited to about 20-25 people each day. So sign up and contact me about payment as soon as you can to insure your spot. And if you intend to do more than one log, please let me know how many you want to plug.
The workshop costs $30 for each log. Discount available for 5 or more logs. Dm for details please.
Payment options are Venmo or cash.
There is also a workshop on Sunday March 29 if Sundays work better for you.
