This event is a unique opportunity for delegates to engage first-hand with the history and material of shifu - the endangered art of weaving with kozo mulberry paper.

The Textile Society welcomes Mrs Kazuko Sato and her interpreter to the UK. Now, at 91 years of age, and with personal memories of Soetsu Yanagi and key figures in the Mingei Movement, Kazuko Sato is the embodiment of the Japanese art of shifu.

Inclusive of afternoon tea, this event will take place in the Clore Space of the Garden Museum, London, located alongside the Courtyard Garden designed by Dan Pearson.

Admission to related events at the Garden Museum is not included in this ticket price.

For those wishing to visit the exhibition Gardening Bohemia: Bloomsbury Women Outdoors and the Garden Museum collections, discounted tickets can be purchased on the day on presentation of your Textile Society ticket. Getting there:

The Garden Museum is next door to Lambeth Palace on the bank of the Thames looking across to Parliament.

The museum is a ten-minute walk from Vauxhall, Westminster and Lambeth North stations.

Buses run from Waterloo Station and taxis are available at all London Terminals.

Cycle racks are available for those cycling to the Garden Museum.


Parking:

There is no parking at the Garden Museum. Paid parking is available nearby on Lambeth High Street and at the Novotel on Lambeth Road.

Please note that the Garden Museum is within the Congestion Charge Zone.


Accessibility:

The Clore Space is accessible to wheelchair users with level access through the Garden Café.
