About this Event
Workshop Overview:
Explore the art of Shibori in this hands-on dyeing workshop led by artist Jyll Mullen. Shibori is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that uses folding, twisting, binding, and compressing fabric to create intricate and often unexpected patterns. In this 90 minute workshop, participants will learn Shibori dyeing methods and apply them to create 3 beautifully dyed tea towels.
Jyll will guide you step-by-step through the process, from preparing and manipulating the fabric to dyeing and revealing your final design. Each piece is unique, shaped by both intention and surprise, making this workshop a balance of control and discovery.
No prior experience is needed. All materials are provided, and participants will leave with their own handcrafted tea towels along with the knowledge to continue exploring Shibori at home. Set within the creative environment of The Monastery, this workshop offers a space to slow down, work with your hands, and engage in a deeply satisfying artistic process.
