About this Event

Sheryl Wiser is a Seattle-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose music fuses Americana, roots, blues, folk, jazz, and rock into a powerful and soulful sound. Recognizable by her signature red Parker Fly guitar, Wiser creates a unique blend of rhythmic textures-soothing yet gritty, graceful yet edgy. Her expressive vocals reflect a lifetime of musical exploration and artistic depth.

Early Influences & Musical Roots

A proud "Jersey girl," Wiser grew up surrounded by her father's collection of jazz, swing, and big band records, along with timeless classics by Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, and Aretha Franklin. As she came of age, she immersed herself in the evolving folk and acoustic music scene, shaping her distinctive voice and songwriting style.

Rising Career & Recognition

In Seattle, Wiser co-founded the acclaimed band Somebody's Daughter, known for its original alt-folk and alt-country sound. Their powerful acoustic storytelling stood out in a competitive era and earned national recognition, including being named a finalist in Musician Magazine's "Best Unsigned Band" contest.

Venturing into her solo career, Wiser performed on respected stages across the country and shared bills with world-renowned artists such as Tori Amos, Luka Bloom, Crash Test Dummies, Dan Fogelberg, Patty Larkin, Jill Sobule, and Peter Himmelman.

Her debut album, Month of Saints, highlighted her adaptability as she embraced the Parker Fly guitar, creating a bolder, punchier sound that perfectly matched her confident and emotive voice.

Advocacy & House Concert Movement

Music for Wiser has always been more than performance-it is a way to build community. Her passion for combining music with activism led her to launch the Pie + Persistence House Concert Series in 2017. Since then, she has performed in living rooms, barns, and backyards across the U.S., raising nearly $100,000 for nonprofit organizations including the ACLU of Washington, Planned Parenthood, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Natural Resource Defense Council, Black Farmers Collective, and more.

Today

Alongside her work as a writer, activist, and advocate for sustainable agriculture, Sheryl Wiser continues to inspire audiences with her heartfelt blend of Americana, blues, and roots music. Her live performances deliver not just songs, but powerful moments of connection, resilience, and soul.
