About this Event
Step into the world of Percy Bysshe Shelley with an atmospheric evening of performance, poetry, and participation, all set just a short walk from the poet’s birthplace and overlooking the very pond where he learned to sail and penned many of his earliest works.
Part I Mad Shelley by Kathryn Attwood
Members of the Lights and Bushels Theatre Company present extracts from Kathryn Attwood’s acclaimed play Mad Shelley, first performed at the Capitol Theatre during Horsham’s Year of Culture. These scenes bring to life the turbulent early years of Shelley, alongside vivid portrayals of his father Timothy and grandfather Bysshe.
Part II Shelley’s Poetry Reimagined
Mole Valley Poets will share a selection of Shelley’s best‑known poems, offering their own distinctive interpretations of these treasured works.
Part III Open Mic Finale
The evening ends with the audience taking centre stage. You are invited to read a poem of your own or a favourite Shelley piece in a warm and welcoming open‑mic session.
Refreshments
Bysshe’s Bar will be open for drinks on arrival and during the interval.
