Ever wanted to learn the bench press but weren't sure where to start? Felt like the barbell section of the gym wasn't really "for you"?

SheLifts is a beginner-friendly, women-only workshop designed to teach you the fundamentals of the bench press and upper body strength training — coached in our 1,500 sq ft Calgary HQ. In 90 minutes, you'll learn proper setup, technique, and how to build confidence under the bar — then put it all together in a structured, fun workout.
No experience required. Just bring a willingness to learn, try something new, and get stronger 💪
Meet Your Coach
You'll be learning from Coach Aleesha and Assistant Coach Ainsley. Aleesha is a kinesiologist and certified personal trainer. She coaches women to get stronger, build muscle, and move pain-free and has a passion for making the barbell approachable and empowering women to feel confident in the gym. Ainsley is a certified personal trainer and 3-time national level powerlifter who has been competing since 2022.
If you've ever felt intimidated by the bench press, these are the coaches you want in your corner!
What You'll Learn
- Proper setup and technique for the bench press
- Upper body pressing and pulling fundamentals
- How to warm up effectively for upper body training
- Bracing, breathing, and movement cues you can take to any gym
- Simple progressions to keep building strength on your own
Who This Is For
This workshop is open to the public and designed for beginners. It's perfect if you're brand new to lifting, returning after time away, or training at home and want real, hands-on coaching from an expert. All women and those who identify as women are welcome.
Requirements
- No lifting experience required
- Able to perform a comfortable push-up from knees or wall, or willing to be coached
- Injury-free, or cleared to train by a medical professional
Before You Register, Please Confirm
When you sign up, you'll be asked to confirm the following:
- I can perform at least 5 controlled push-ups (from knees or wall is fine)
- I am injury-free or cleared to train
- I agree to the waiver and photo release
