Shelby, a 5 year old girl with Type 1 Diabetes, recently had a major health scare. Her blood sugar monitor malfunctioned and Shelby's sugar levels dropped dangerously low. Though she shows no symptoms when her levels change, her mom decided to double check her sugar and discovered, right before bedtime, that she was in danger. Without that last minute check, Shelby could have died in her sleep. Her family is raising money to get Shelby a Diabetic Alert Dog to prevent this from happening again and to give Shelby the freedom she deserves.
