Come take a step back into and immerse yourself in Loudoun’s history at the Waterford Foundation Open House! To kickoff National Historic Preservation Month, we invite you to come explore some of the iconic buildings and stories of Waterford. Settled in 1733, the Waterford National Historic Landmark has a long and storied history of agriculture, craft, industry, Women’s History, African American history, and more!Throughout the Village from 12pm-5pm, you will have the opportunity to explore the Waterford National Historic Landmark with:
-Opportunities to explore some of Waterford's iconic buildings like the Waterford Mill and Second Street School
-Special exhibits
-Self Guided and Guided Walking Tours of the Village and Phillips Farm
-Children's Activities, including Sally the Sheep's Puzzle Hunt with prizes for those who complete it!

Logistics:
Date and Time: Sunday, May 4 from 12pm-5pm
Location: Waterford Foundation buildings throughout the Village will be open to the public to come and explore, as well as activities for all ages at buildings throughout the Village. These will be marked on a map available at the event. Walking tours, check-in, and general information will be at the Waterford Old School at 40222 Fairfax Street, Waterford VA
Parking: The Foundation suggests visitors park at the Waterford Old School: 40222 Fairfax Street, Waterford VA
Is this event free? Yes! The exhibits and activities are largely self-guided (with maps available at the Waterford Old School and other properties). If you have any questions, docents will be at each building that is open. However, if you want to participate in a guided walking tour, you do have to purchase a ticket.
Guided Walking Tours: This event is largely self-guided with maps to lead you around the Village available at the Waterford Old School and other properties. However, we have the option of three guided walking tours where a skilled docent will introduce you to the storied history of the Waterford National Historic Landmark. These guided walking tours are happening at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30pm, are approximately 90 minutes long, and cost $20 per person. Tours will be leaving from the Waterford Old School. Is this event child friendly? Yes! Children’s activities will be available at different spots around the Village. Children will also have the opportunity to participate in Sally the Sheep’s puzzle hunt with a prize for each kid who completes it! Prizes are available at the Waterford Old School.
Are restrooms available? Yes, restrooms will be available at various spots around the Village, marked on the map. Accessible bathrooms are available at the Waterford Old School.
