Monday Night Confessions Season II 2025 opens with Ben Lerner's trio SHEKET and a new solo electroacoustic drums work from Jack Rosenzweig. OH YES!!!SHEKET is a trio from saxophonist and composer Ben Lerner, featuring the creative forces of Hilary Geddes and Laurence Pike. Having moved to Sydney from New Zealand in 2020, Lerner has established himself as one of the leading young voices on the saxophone in Australia. SHEKET is a band which explores simple vamps and melodies in a bass-less trio format.
JACK ROSENZWEIG is a 24-year-old drummer, composer and bandleader residing in Eora/Sydney, having recently completed his undergraduate studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with First Class Honours in Jazz Performance. In addition to being a sought-after jazz drummer, Jack is currently involved in numerous original music projects including HEAPS GRASS, EBS, Flux State and Motion Quartet as well as his solo work. In the last two years he has been fortunate to attend both the Siena International Jazz Workshop in Italy and Banff Centre’s GATHER LISTEN HEAR: Jazz & Sonic Arts program in Canada. He is currently recording his first EP as a bandleader, set for release in mid-2025.
Jack has been performing a new set of music for solo drumset and electronics around Sydney and Melbourne over the last few months. His compositions stem from the skills developed in his individual practice, in particular exploring the vast possibilities of linear patterning.
