Join us for a hands-on, confidence-building first-aid clinic specifically designed for backcountry skiers and riders. Whether you’re new to touring or looking to refresh your skills, this session will give you practical knowledge you can use on your next adventure.

This course is being taught by Becky Fuys — Wilderness Medicine Educator, EMT & Founder of Backcountry Ready and hosted by SheJumps and Patagonia Salt Lake.
We’ll cover the most common backcountry ski and snowboard injuries—what they look like, how to assess them, and effective ways to treat them in the field. You’ll also learn how to build a reliable, lightweight first aid kit for winter travel and what essentials are worth carrying in your pack.
Finally, we’ll dive into hypothermia: how to recognize early warning signs, respond quickly, and prevent cold-related emergencies before they start.
This clinic is beginner-friendly, interactive, and geared toward helping you feel more prepared, capable, and resilient in the mountains. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and build your mountain safety toolkit with Backcountry Ready and the SheJumps community.

Becky Fuys — Wilderness Medicine Educator, EMT & Founder of Backcountry Ready
Becky Fuys is a wilderness medicine educator, licensed EMT, and the founder of Backcountry Ready, Outdoor Education — a Utah-based program focused on helping people feel more confident and prepared while recreating outdoors. With over a decade of experience guiding, teaching, and adventuring in the backcountry, Becky has seen firsthand how empowering even basic first aid knowledge can be, especially when help may be far away.
Becky holds both a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification and a state-licensed EMT credential, but her approach to teaching is intentionally beginner-friendly. She believes first aid education should feel accessible, practical, and relevant — not overwhelming or intimidating. Her goal is to help people understand what to do in the moments that matter, using clear language, hands-on practice, and realistic scenarios that apply to everyday outdoor adventures.
Through Backcountry Ready, Becky creates welcoming learning environments where questions are encouraged and no prior experience is required. Her classes focus on building confidence, recognizing common injuries, and practicing simple skills that can make a meaningful difference — whether you’re hiking, skiing, camping, or just starting to explore the outdoors.
Becky is excited to partner with SheJumps to lead this Women’s First Aid Clinic, offering a supportive, inclusive space for participants to start their wilderness medicine education journey and feel more prepared on their next outdoor adventure.

Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the event date will receive a 100% refund. Optional donations made during registration will not be refunded.
Cancellations made within 3-6 days in advance of the event date will receive a 50% refund. Optional donations made during registration will not be refunded.
No refunds will be given for cancellations within 48 hours of the event, as this does not give us adequate time to fill the spot.
