Improving health outcomes for people with a learning disability through the GP Learning Disability Register.
About this Event

Join Royal Mencap for the Sheffield Health Community Conference. In partnership with , we are facilitating this practical, in-person event. It aims to bring together local health, education and community partners to improve healthcare outcomes for people with a learning disability.

Why this matters
Mencap’s national focuses on increasing awareness of and uptake of the Learning Disability Register (LDR). When people are on the register, it helps services make reasonable adjustments and improves access to support such as Annual Health Checks, longer appointments where needed, and targeted public health interventions (including vaccinations).

This event is about agreeing on practical, local actions that increase LDR sign-up and improve Annual Health Check uptake across our area. We’ll share what’s working, explore what gets in the way, and identify next steps that organisations can take forward together.

Who it’s for
GP practices and primary care teams (including PCNs), learning disability nurses/community teams, Healthwatch, ICB colleagues, SENCOs/education staff, and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) partners.

What to expect
Short inputs and discussions on local barriers and solutions, plus time to connect with local system partners and professionals.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Ticket Allocation (Max 4 per Organisation)

Because places are limited to 80 attendees, we’re initially limiting bookings to a maximum of 4 tickets per organisation to ensure as many local partners as possible can take part. If additional spaces become available closer to the event date (for example, due to cancellations or unused allocations), we’ll contact organisations on the list and invite further attendees where capacity allows.

If you’d like to be considered for extra places, please book your two tickets first and then email us with the names/roles of any additional colleagues you’d like to bring ([email protected])
