I was fortunate enough to encounter them in 2015 at one of their workshops in Edinburgh and I recognised that I was sensing and feeling in a way that i hadn't in other dance/movement sessions... I left with a sense of greater ease in my nervous system.
I've been on their workshops, retreats and facilitator training courses each year since and they inspired me to birth and facilitate Fluid Nature which is an ongoing, unfolding exploration of somatic enquiry, dance and creative expression.
The past few years we've offered collaborative retreats and workshops around Scotland and I felt this year to organise a day workshop in Tornaveen Village Hall, Aberdeenshire where I've begun to collaborate with my friend Richard-John Kent and the dancing tribe gathering around his invitation.
Our workshops and retreats this year around Scotland are called "Shedding Our Skins." For us, this isn't about adding anything else to our sense of identity or to accumulate knowledge.. It's about slowly unfolding, unwinding and unmasking the layers we have accumulated so as to return to our uncontrived Natural Self.. The true nature of which is spontaneous, creative, playful, unlimited intelligence... And more besides..
This is more than simply an opportunity to come and dance.. It's a dive into the currents of life. Both Fred & Colleen are deeply informed around the dynamics of trauma and the pioneering modalities of healing and recalibrating the nervous system.
You'll leave this workshop with a greater sense of being resourced from within, and an awareness of how to be with stress and tension so as to move it through the body slowly and safely..
Returning to a celebration of life dancing.
The workshop costs £60 and a deposit of £20 secures your space.. The balance is required by the end of April.
Fred and Colleen offer online sessions of Medicine Dance twice weekly from their home in California so you can connect with them before this workshop if you feel you'd like to.
Scott offers his Fluid Nature sessions each month in Fife and also every 2 months or so in Aberdeenshire with Richard-John Kent.
Before you decide to sign up for this workshop we ask that you consider the following points:
** You have a reasonable degree of self awareness and take full responsibility for all that arises within you through the workshop... Support is always available from the facilitators but we do invite people who have a mature attitude and are able to take care of themselves psychologically, emotionally and physically.
** You abstain from alcohol and recreational drugs.
** Please inform us of any medications you are currently taking This information will be kept confidential and used solely to support your wellbeing throughout the workshop.
** No photographs or video taken, during our sessions together, so as to maintain privacy and deepen our feeling of safety.
** The facilitators will draw attention to any behaviour which they deem to be inappropriate within the scope of the session, and we ask that you honour our requests with this.
It's an open space for personal exploration and expression, but personal boundaries of others must be respected and we shall do our best to clarify relevant dynamics at the opening circle.
