About this Event
Join us for She Speaks: Love, Power, and the Freedom to Be — an intimate and empowering evening centering Black queer voices and community through storytelling, creative expression, and collective dialogue. All gender expressions are welcome!
Hosted in collaboration between the Women’s Centre of Calgary and Black Pride YYC, this unique event is rooted in themes of love, self-acceptance, justice, and power. Inspired by the work of bell hooks and Audre Lorde, She Speaks creates space for softness, resistance, joy, and imagining freedom in practice.
This is more than a traditional panel, it is an immersive and participatory community experience. Attendees are encouraged to come ready to engage, reflect, and bring thoughtful questions for speakers as we move beyond presentation into meaningful community conversation.
