About this Event
Celebrate the history of women’s sports in Toronto with a walk through Exhibition Place! From Horse Palace to BMO Field, we’ll explore how sports shaped women’s lives - and how societal attitudes, limited media coverage, and systemic bias led to their stories being sidelined. Join us as we examine the intersections of immigration, Black and Indigenous heritage, and queerness that make this history far more complex (and inspiring!) than what’s often remembered.
This tour will be led by Emerging Historian Mads Bayliss. Mads is an emerging journalist and cultural educator from the UK. After completing an exchange year in Toronto, they felt so at home in the rich vibrancy of the city’s culture that they now live here permanently. Their work primarily focuses on queer politics and how marginalised communities can be empowered by learning about their cultural heritage.
