Seattle Hand Drummers and Seattle Hand Drummers Community has been booked for an exciting, JAM-Packed weeked of drum and song at the Seattle Musuem of Flight's final weekend of the MIG-21 Project, Art Installation.
Both Saturday January 24th and Sunday January 25th SHD will be offering up a performance jam made up of our community members (ask to join us), followed by a one-hour community Playshop. Anyone and everyone can join us for the Playshop and even offer up a rhythm or song. Facilitators are encouraged to join and lead a portion as well.
Our performance jam will need a core of 4-6 solid drummers. Bonus if you have played with us before. Please have your own instrument. Our core performers will be monetarily compensated for their time. We ask (hope) that availability be for both days. The performance piece will be aprox. 30 minutes.
If you are interested please reach out to us.

The Museum of Flight’s dazzling new exhibit is the world premiere of The MiG-21 Project, South African artist Ralph Ziman’s 5-year, multidisciplinary project transforming a decommissioned Cold War-era, Soviet-designed MiG-21 fighter jet into a stunning work of art entirely covered in tens of millions of colorful glass beads.
The reclaimed jet turns an icon of violence into a symbol of resilience and collaboration.“The aim of The MiG-21 Project,” said Ziman, “is to take the most mass-produced supersonic fighter aircraft and to turn it from a machine of war into something that looks beautiful, changes the meaning of it.”
