On Wednesday, September 24, at 10 a.m., the Shawna E. Shea Memorial Foundation and friends will come together on the Uxbridge Town Common to mark a meaningful milestone: 10 years since our incorporation as a nonprofit and the creation of our Women in Film Fellowship. This event is more than an anniversary—it is a moment to honor our beginnings and the community that has been with us from the start.
We return to the spirit of the very first town-wide memorial walk in 2001, just a year after Shawna’s passing. That walk, born from love and community solidarity, inspired the work we continue today: uplifting independent voices and supporting filmmakers, artists, writers, and poets in Shawna’s memory.
Join us for a brief ceremony, presentations, and light refreshments as we reflect on this journey and recognize those who helped ignite it, including:
Uxbridge Police Department
Uxbridge Police Association
Uxbridge Fire Department
Uxbridge High School and Guidance Department
Erin Shea Porter
Becky Evans-Andrade
Jill Vahey
The late Jane Mitchell
Kathy Misiaszek, former UHS Guidance Counselor
Please note: this is an outdoor event. If the weather does not cooperate, Uxbridge High School has graciously offered the Auditorium for our small ceremony and presentations.
We hope you’ll stand with us in celebration, remembrance, and renewal.
