Shauncey Ali has won the RockyGrass fiddle contest, performed with Peter Gabriel, been featured in Fiddler Magazine and earned acclaim as a composer, performer and educator – work that has taken him across the US, Canada, Italy, Spain and Scotland.At the intersection of tradition and innovation, the Shauncey Ali Quartet crafts evocative melodies and arrangements that feel timeless, adventurous and refreshingly new. The ensemble draws from the deep wells of Celtic and Americana fiddle traditions, a love of improvisation, extensive experience in classical orbits and sensibilities shaped by pop, rock, and Scandinavian music.
Featuring Hans Holzen (guitar), Nicholas Vanhaute (mandolin), and David Havas (upright bass), the Shauncey Ali Quartet delivers a chamber-style interplay that is virtuosic yet accessible, rooted in tradition yet unbound by convention. An anticipated debut album of original material is expected this spring.
