BIO FOR MUSIC“Sharon Sings the Good News!”
On January 2, 1999 my home burned down. I had a karaoke business called “Share ‘N Share the Mic”. When I went back to the house and saw all my music burned, I said to God; “Now What?” As soon as I said that, a thought came to me as clear as day; “Now you will sing for Me.” I knew that thought was not my own, so I figured it was God, and then I said, “I don’t know exactly what that means, but OK God.”
Some people from my church pitched in a bought me a small karaoke machine and invited me to sing at a music event. At that time, I had replaced only a few of the secular music tracks.
Not long after that, a man from my Sunday School class asked me to purchase a sound track and learn the song “He’s Been Faithful”. I went to the Christian Book Store and found a rack of sound tracks. I bought that one, and listened to several others. That was the beginning of finding songs that I could relate to. I purchased them one by one, and I have a testimony to share with each.
In 2021, I joined CSMI: “Christian Songwriters and Musicians International”, at the prompting of Gene Schmidt. I felt so out of place singing only to tracks that other people wrote. But right after that first conference, I wrote a poem, and discovered that I have a talent to write music. Through CSMI, I got connected with Robert Nakamoto, who takes my poems and puts melodies to them. I am currently putting together a C.D. So now I can sing to my own tracks, and also continue to sing to the tracks I collected throughout the years.
About five years ago I was prompted to buy a guitar. I taught myself the chords, and now I play and sing old gospel hymns at the surrounding area nursing homes.
I truly sing for God.
