Shares, Inc. Information Night: What to Expect
We will walk through the upcoming changes to prevocational (workshop) services and what those changes mean for the individuals we support. As these shifts take place, we are intentionally expanding our day programming to be more flexible, more individualized, and truly centered around each person’s goals, interests, and preferences.
At the heart of this conversation is choice—making sure individuals have real options and an active role in deciding how they spend their day.
We will give an overview of the transition process, and how each individual has the opportunity to decide their response to the question, “Do you want to work in the community?” The answer may be “Yes”, “No”, or “I’m not sure yet” – and those are all acceptable answers!
For those who want to find a job in the community, we will assist them in connecting with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to obtain the funding for Community Employment services. Our Employment Consultants are experienced in developing relationships with local employers, guiding job seekers through the process of discovering their unique interests and skills, and providing on-the-job assistance with learning job tasks.
For those whose answer to the question about work is “no” or “I’m not sure yet,” we will highlight our three Day Services program pathways:
The Good Life Club: for individuals who want to stay active, social, and connected in a relaxed, meaningful way.
Skills to Thrive: focused on building independence, confidence, and everyday life skills through engaging activities and community experiences
Skills to Work: designed to help individuals explore employment interests and build the skills needed for future job opportunities
The goal of this session is to provide clarity, answer questions, and share how these changes are creating more meaningful, person-centered opportunities for the people we serve.
