Cantemus Artistic Director Jason Iannuzzi has developed an intriguing program gathering music from a wide variety of religious traditions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sufism, Buddhism, and Hinduism.From Rachmaninoff's “Bogoroditse Devo” and Duruflé's “Ubi Caritas” to a Hebrew “Prayer Before Sleep” and an Islamic chant, “Zikr,” the chorus will sing in Russian, Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Urdu, Sanskrit, Spanish — and English. The music focuses on awareness of the divine, love and devotion, the wonders of creation, peace and centeredness, and connection.
