Early life adversity and identifying need - bridging research and practice with expert insights for teachers, clinicians and researchers.
About this Event

This workshop focuses on early life adversity and identification of need, with an emphasis on bridging the gap between what we know from research and what is useful in practice. It is aimed at teachers, practitioners, researchers, and clinicians.

Across the day, we will have short talks and panel discussions with world-leading experts, with a strong focus on the latest evidence and practical take-home messages, including how to identify difficulties early and how research can inform intervention and support.

Speakers and panellists include:

Harmelen: Professor of Brain, Safety and Resilience at Leiden University, whose work focuses on the social, psychological, and neurobiological mechanisms of risk and resilience in adolescence and young people.

Dr. Anna Moore Winter: Assistant Professor in Child Psychiatry and Medical Informatics at the University of Cambridge, and Consultant in Liaison Child Psychiatry and Paediatric Psychological Medicine, whose work focuses on children’s mental health and preventative approaches to care.

Dr. Delia Fuhrmann: Senior Lecturer in Psychology and lead of the LIFE-MAP Lab at King’s College London, whose work focuses on lifespan developmental neuroscience, mental health, and young people’s experiences.

Prof. Sarah Lloyd-Fox: Research Professor at the University of Cambridge, whose work focuses on developmental trajectories of early cognitive and brain development, and on how family and environmental context shape early life.

Dr. Joanna Stanbridge: Principal Educational Psychologist (EP) at Cambridgeshire County Council and Research Tutor at UCL's Institute for Education, whose work focuses on educational psychology practice and support for children and young people.

Prof. Jenny Gibson: Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Education at the University of Cambridge, and a qualified speech and language therapist, whose work focuses on the links between language, social development, neurodivergence, play, and mental health in children and young people.

Prof. Andrea Danese: Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at King’s College London, and a clinical scientist, whose work focuses on childhood trauma, child mental health, and risk factors for later psychopathology.

This event is completely free (including lunch and refreshments), but spaces are limited!
