In the Zen tradition - Shamata, meaning “calm abiding”, is a foundational meditation practice that cultivates stability, tranquility, and deep awareness. It prepares the ground for vipassana (insight) and invites us to experience each moment as it is: open, compassionate, and interconnected with all of life.
We begin the morning with a grounding 90-minute yoga practice, harmonizing body and breath before sharing a nourishing organic breakfast together. Then, settle into the quiet beauty of a 90-minute silent tea ceremony, an embodied meditation that reveals the grace of simplicity and the art of being fully present.
A mindful lunch will follow, served in silence — time to eat with awareness, reflect, and journal if you wish.The afternoon unfolds with a Zen Dharma reading and talk offering reflections to deepen your understanding of mindfulness, breath awareness, and inner stillness.
Whether you are new to meditation or refining an existing practice, this is an invitation to rest in what resonates most deeply for you. We’ll then move into sitting and walking meditations, held indoors in a supportive and contemplative space, followed by a light afternoon treat.
The day concludes with an integrative yin yoga and sound healing session, offering hands-on body release techniques to ground and restore your energy on every level.
This retreat offers a sacred pause, a moment to integrate this last year’s experiences, and reconnect with your heart before the busyness of the holiday season begins.
