About this Event
Only five miles from downtown Nevada City, nestled in the Yuba River canyon, exists a mystical destination known affectionately as Rosebud Ranch. Rare opportunities occasionally arise to venture to this private property to tap in to the essence of musical transcendence. Those who were fortunate enough to be there in August ’21 for magicgravy, any of the three shows in ’23 (Chum, Lebo & Friends and Saints of Circumstance) or, most recently, Blu Egyptian, get a twinkle in their eye when recollecting the transformative experiences they had under the stars.
Rosebud offers a refreshing change of pace for the live music paradigm. Those who cherish the feeling of being elevated by the spontaneous nature of artistic expression combined with beautiful dance synergy make the pilgrimage here from all around Nor Cal. All ages are welcome!
Your passionate musical curator Tyler Blue has had the honor of celebrating his birthday here for the last couple years and the tradition will continue with tremendous gusto. Last year’s event with Lebo & Friends culminated with the a now infamous crowd surfing episode. What sort of antics will this year hold?
Providing the cosmic entertainment for the occasion is none other than Shaky Feelin’ from Ventura, California. This high-energy jamband is bursting with positivity and the insatiable intent to move audiences at their very core. Led by the visionary guitar playing and powerful vocal presence of Mark Masson, this band delivers one awe-inspiring moment after the next. His buttery, conversational style brings forth a comfort factor akin to some of your favorite players, while blazing his own trails. As the night progresses, they feed voraciously off the simmering energy, voyaging deeper into the improvisational vortex. Heavily influenced by Phish, Grateful Dead, reggae, bluegrass and all the best classic rock, Shaky has a sixth sense of understanding when it comes to tapping in to that state of bliss we all seek.
Prepare for an all-out dance party as the intricate bass grooves of Jeff Hiller and polyrhythmic drumming of Paul Menchaca open gateways into alternate dimensions. Dancing barefoot on the soft turf dancefloor at Rosebud is one of the more satisfying feelings on the planet. This is one of those rare places on earth with the power to reinvigorate your energy as soon as you set foot on the land. Come see for yourself!
