About this Event
Join our ongoing Shakuhachi Group Class at Daiyuzenji, guided by Trevor West.
The shakuhachi is a traditional Japanese bamboo flute historically used in Zen practice as a form of “blowing meditation.” Through breath, tone, and attentive listening, students cultivate presence, deep relaxed breathing, refined posture, strengthened lung capacity, and focused awareness.
This class meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 6:00 PM and is followed by zazen (seated meditation) at 7:00 PM.
All levels are welcome — whether you are new to music, new to meditation, or continuing your practice. This is an ongoing class, and new students may join at any time.
Flutes are available to borrow, or bring your own.
