Shakti Lounge presents Fredtown Stompers. The Fredtown Stompers are a collective of WNY jazz musicians playing traditional 1920-1930s jazz charts. They swing that Hot Jazz and have that New Orleans Trad Jazz flavor. They past winners of JazzBuffalo's 2016 Most Memorable Performance. The Fredtown Stompers were born in 2006 out of the back of Coughlan's Pub in Fredonia, NY, by college students playing for the love of music, and of course, free beer. The group has evolved and members have moved on from time to time, but the spirit of the group remains. Their mission is to keep the early roots of jazz alive and well.
