United by a DIY ethic and a love for musical risk-taking, Hartford prog-metal band Shagohod is proud to release their third full-length album A Curse that Hides the Door: an epic 55-minute, multi-genre record that is somehow equally unmarketable as their last two. Only this time it's about mummies. And listen - they know that sounds dumb. But if you’ve heard Shagohod before, you know it’s more than that. There is no irony in this. From composing a live string quartet to an all-in synth-wave song, from belting a frantic two minute punk tune to crafting a patient 11 minute prog epic capped with emotive saxophone, Shagohod left no stone unturned. This record represents their most ambitious and personal work yet.

"A Curse That Hides the Door" is the album that Shagohod has always wanted to make. Based on classic films, pulpy adventure stories and real-life history, Shagohod combines and refracts these inspirations to craft a deeply personal record. The album asks listeners to reflect on what it all means: What can we hope to make out of our brief time in this strange and beautiful world? What does it mean to let go? And what happens when we refuse to move on?
He Was A God is a progressive, alt-metal band hailing from southern Connecticut. Their sound mixes complex arrangements with memorable hooks and a fierce political bite. They’ve cut their teeth with energetic live performances all over New England opening for the likes of Life of Agony, Goatwhore, and Katatonia. Since forming in 2021, the band has released one EP (The Smile & The Scar) and one LP (Muckraker).

Their upcoming release, The Greatest Story Ever $old, champions the working man while taking aim at corruption and moral bankruptcy in all its many forms. Hailed in the press as “charismatic heavy metal with a message”, He Was A God seamlessly blends sterling musicianship with a punk ethos.
