The Shag Pile posse is back for 2025, bringing you a new year of the fast, fun swing dance called Collegiate Shag!January is a great jumping on point for new dancers, and for the next few weeks we'll focus on the essential elements, so you can quickly build a repertoire of useful moves.
Each week works as a stand-alone drop-in class, at which we start from the basics then build from there, so join us for one or two hours as you like - choose on the night.
Our curriculum includes information on the African American movers, shakers, music, and musicians of the Swing Era.
Please come early so you can be ready and changed into comfy shoes and ready to dance from 7pm.
No partner required - just rock up.
Please bring flexible flat soled shoes and a bottle of water.
6:45 pm: Doors open
7:00 pm: Intro & first hour
8:00 pm: Second hour
9:00 pm: Recap
Then it's off to the Camel Pub for refreshments and chat.
The option not to rotate partners remains in place for the comfort of students.
