Mae yn fraint cael gwahodd yr artist Michal Iwanowski i Storiel i drafod ei yrfa ai arddangosfa teithiol Go Home Polish!
Yn enedigol o Wlad Pwyl a erbyn hyn wedi ymgartrefu yn ninas Caerdydd mae gwaith Michal Iwanowski yn daith mewn mwy na un ystyr. Yn 2008 daeth Michal ar draws graffiti ger ei gartref yn dweud ‘Go Home, Polish’.
Ddeng mlynedd yn ddiweddarach, yng nghanol cefndir Brexit ac Ewrop ranedig, ymgymerodd â thaith anhygoel dros 1900km ar droed rhwng Cymru a’i bentref genedigol, Mokrzeszów yng Ngwlad Pwyl. Aeth y taith yma drwy Cymru, Lloegr, Ffrainc, Gwlad Belg, yr Iseldiroedd , yr Almaen ar Weriniaeth Czech. Prif nod y daith oedd archwilio a deall y syniad o ‘gartref’. Cymerodd y daith 105 diwrnod i’w chwblhau, a thrwy hynny fe bostiodd ddyddiadur o’i brofiadau a’i gyfarfyddiadau ar Instagram.
Ddeng mlynedd ers refferendwm Brexit, mae’n teimlo’n amserol arddangos gwaith Michal yma yn Storiel.
Mae’r arddangosfa a sgwrs wedi bod yn bosibl drwy CELF – menter genedlaethol i sicrhau fod casgliadau cenedlaethol i’w gweld ledled Cymru.
It is a privilege to have the artist Michal Iwanowski invited to Storiel to discuss his career and the touring exhibition Go Home Polish! Originally from Poland and now settled in the city of Cardiff, Michal Iwanowski's work is a journey in more than one sense. In 2008, Michal came across graffiti near his home saying 'Go Home, Polish'. Ten years later, amidst the backdrop of Brexit and a divided Europe, he undertook an incredible journey of over 1900km on foot between Wales and his hometown, Mokrzeszów in Poland. This journey passed through Wales, England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and the Czech Republic. The main aim of the journey was to explore and understand the idea of 'home'. The journey took 105 days to complete, during which he posted a diary of his experiences and encounters on Instagram. Ten years after the Brexit referendum, it feels timely to show Michal's work here at Storiel. The exhibition and talk have been made possible through CELF – a national initiative to ensure allowing the national collection to be shown throughout Wales
