Learn about how the early Chinese migrants in Singapore arrive in Singapore and admire 200 years old temples intricate motifs, reliefs & architecture that are a living testimony of Singapore's trading port, maritime history and a racial & religious harmonious society since the 1800s.
Goddess of the Sea, Mazu, is the protector for many of our Singaporean ancestors who came from the Southern China in 1800s and 1900s. Mazu is known to roam the sea and the guardian to many seafarers and fisherman. On the 23rd Day of the 3rd Lunar Month, many temples worldwide including Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore, will hold grand ceremony to celebrate her birthday.

Get to know about the lady, Mazu, who was honoured with an imperial title at least 36 times over 700 hundred years from Song to Qing dynasty while carefully examining the 2 imperial scrolls! Join us as uncover the truth of how important these temples to the Singaporean immigrants and seafarers once as a fishing port and till to-date.

The Singapore HeritageFest (SHF) is the HeritageSG, a subsidiary of National Heritage Board (NHB)’s signature annual outreach event that celebrates the many facets of Singapore’s diverse heritage and culture.
