Due to popular demand, Bal Haus is thrilled to welcome back the Nathan Tokunaga Quartet for our live band night!At only 17 years old, with just 8 years of experience on the clarinet, Nathan Tokunaga is already a rising star in the Bay Area jazz scene. If you've danced to live music in the area over the past couple of years, you've likely noticed his presence in Clint Baker's New Orleans Jazz Band, Nick Rossi's Jazzopators, the Heidi Evelyn Swing Band, and even on KCSM radio as part of the College of San Mateo's "Little Big Band," to name just a few.
In addition to appearing on many rosters, Nathan leads the Nathan Tokunaga Quartet, bringing music influenced by the very bands and leaders we revere in Balboa, such as Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman. He is deeply steeped in the traditions of Early Jazz and the Swing Era, from which our dance originates. We are confident that he and his talented cast of players will knock your socks off, no matter how tightly you might have put on your dance shoes.
During the band breaks, stay on the dance floor for DJ Rob Gatdula (PhDJ), one of the best swing DJs in the Bay Area.

Full bar available (cash only). Treat yourself to a delicious drink. There's ample street parking but please do not leave valuables in your car! Have other plans and coming by late? No problem! Admission is half off after 11:00pm.

For the sake of our dance community, PLEASE stay home if feeling sick (COVID or not) or if exposed to COVID-19 within a week of the event. We still encourage everyone to wear masks on the dance floor and to be respectful if someone does not feel like dancing. Bal Haus will provide masks at the front desk for those who need them. Bal Haus reserves the right to adjust our policy again should public health situations change.
