About this Event
This is a Private Lesson for 1 student at a time. Given the increased focus and one on one attention, you will learn everything from our group class but in only one hour.
In this beginner friendly workshop, you’ll learn the basic skills necessary to use a sewing machine and put your new skills to good use making all sorts of useful items for you and your home. Or maybe you want to learn how to sew so that you can alter your wardrobe? We’ll get you started with everything you’ll need to know to put your long ignored machine to good use. All supplies are included; we have machines for you to use during class.....and because we have several different types of sewing machines in class, this is a great first step to see which type machine you like best before purchasing one, if you don't yet have a machine.
What you'll learn in class:
-All the parts of a sewing machine and comparisons between manual and digital models
-Tools you'll need in your sewing journey, including the best types of thread to use to keep your machine healthy and working well
-How to wind a bobbin, thread a machine and bring the bobbin thread up before sewing
-How to adjust your tension for each project
-How to sew using different types of stitches, including decorative top stitching
-How to sew 'in the round' for all those pants you need to hem!
You'll have a chance to work with the different types of machines we have during the workshop. Questions are always welcome at any time!
