About this Event
Who's it for:
For adults who want to learn hand and machine sewing in a supportive environment with a qualified tutor with over 20 years experience of working with adults. Perfect for anyone wishing to become more self-reliant through making, altering, modifying and upcycling, while reconnecting with their creative side.
What you'll learn:
This first block of 5 sessions will focus on the basics; the characteristics of different fabrics, hand stitching for simple construction, seam allowance and hemlines, fitting zips, anatomy of a sewing machine, creating neat finishes for simple makes.
What you'll be able to make over 5 sessions:
- A set of two cotton napkins with mitred corners and machine stitched decoration
- An envelope cushion cover
- A zipped case
- Over the final two weeks - a kimono style robe with pockets
Block booking policy:
To keep the group consistent and to plan materials fairly, places are available only as a full 5‑week block paid for before the start date of Thursday 10th September. All 5 sessions will happen at the same time, at the same venue and each session will happen on consecutive Thursdays with the final Thursday session happening on 8th October. We do not offer mid-block joiners. We do not offer partial refunds for any sessions missed, if a session is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances by either myself or by Resorts World, an additional session will be offered on the Thursday following the final session of the block. If the block is full, please join the waiting list—places sometimes become available before the block begins.
Refund/cancellation policy:
Bookings are for a full 5‑week block. Block bookings are non-refundable after one week before the start date, as materials and staffing are planned in advance.
