Designed to introduce you to sewing and help you really practice your new skills, so you can walk away feeling confident and inspired to sew your own clothes.
Join us in West Perth, as we transform our workshop space into a sewing room. Our very own Emilie Otto, will teach you sewing basics and guide you through a series of projects sharing her tips and tricks along the way.
This workshop series includes sewing machine basics, creating patterns ( to use time and time again) based on your body measurements, constructing garments and hemming.
What this workshop series includes:
-Week One: Learn how to sew! We’ll cover machine and fabric basics, guiding you through sewing your first stitch. You’ll practice on an easy scrunchie project.
-Week Two: We’ll touch on basic pattern making and drafting patterns from clothes you already own. You’ll then create your own pair of palazzo pants
-Week Three: Using a pattern you’ll create a boxy cropped top
-Week Four: Maxi skirt with a leg split or a Ruched top projects
- A Sewing machine to use. We want to make sure we are experts in the machines you are using so that if any issues arise we can troubleshoot them ASAP. Additionally making sure we have enough spare parts so everyone can enjoy the session without worry.
-Tea, Coffee & biccies (BYO snacks welcome)
BYO fabric Suggested amounts of quilting cotton or similar that’s at least 110cm wide. These can all be the same or a variety. Project 1: Scrunchie 1/2m of fabric Project 2: Pants 2m of fabric Project 3: Top 1m of fabric Project 4: Top 1m of fabric, skirt 2m of fabric *Don’t forget your matching thread
Workshop dates: Thursdays from 6pm - 9pm, March 6, 13, 20, 27
This beginners series is perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try sewing or learn sewing basics, skills learnt in this workshop can be used beyond the workshop to create your own pieces. All patterns used in this series are yours to take home and use time and time again.
