About the event

For this Grand Rounds, Dr. Tara Sabo-Attwood will discuss wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE), how it is being explored as a tool to improving public health, and the benefits and challenges in fully implementing this framework.



About the speaker

Dr. Tara Sabo-Attwood has been Dean of the University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health since August 2024. She is a highly accomplished public health leader, having served for nearly two decades in various academic leadership positions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and Genetics from the University of Connecticut, and a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences specializing in environmental toxicology and pharmacology from the University of Florida.

As an accomplished researcher and educator in environmental health, Dr. Sabo-Attwood has studied elucidating the effects of pollution on humans and ecosystems – ranging from molecules to communities. She is also highly engaged with national agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and also serves as the Deputy Director of the Southeastern Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety. In her many leadership roles, she has influenced academic programs, culture, community wellness and research.


This lecture will be offered online and in-person. All registrants should RSVP. Virtual attendees will receive the livestream link after registering.
