Sew Indigenous: Community Sewing & Beading Workshop Wednesdays

Hosted by the Native American Cultural Center (NACC) of Austin
Join us for Sew Indigenous, a weekly community gathering rooted in Native American culture, creativity, and connection.
This is a welcoming space where we come together to sew, bead, share knowledge, and support one another.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines and/or beading supplies to work on ribbon skirts, beadwork, or other traditional Native designs.
Whether you are a beginner learning the basics or an advanced artist, all skill levels are welcome.
This is a collaborative environment where we help each other, exchange techniques, and pass down knowledge in community.
We do have a few sewing machines available for shared use, but they fill up quickly. Patience and flexibility are appreciated, as sharing space and resources is part of the community experience.
What to Bring (if you can):
Your own sewing machine and/or beading supplies
At least 2 yards of fabric (if you plan to sew)
Ribbon, thread, beads, and any project-specific materials
We have limited supplies available, but bringing your own materials is highly encouraged.
We are also always accepting donations to support this space and future workshops. Fabric, thread, ribbon (we can never seem to have enough!), beads, and even sewing machines are deeply appreciated and help keep this gathering accessible to all.
Food is an important part of gathering together, and potluck-style dishes are always welcome if you’d like to share and enjoy a meal with the community.
Come as you are, bring what you can, and be part of a space that celebrates Indigenous creativity, tradition, and togetherness.
