If you find it therapeutic to wander through your favorite fabric store, running your hands across linen and cotton, this workshop is the next best thing.
Welcome to a sewing experience designed to slow you down, quiet the noise, and reconnect you with the simple rhythm of making something beautiful with your hands.
In this gentle, beginner-friendly class, students work on calming foundational techniques, straight stitching, pressing with intention, mindful seam finishing, and small satisfying details that feel grounding rather than overwhelming.
We begin with a curated fabric exploration table, a tactile “fabric bar” filled with textured samples, glittery and shiny textiles, soft local organic cottons, structured woven, and unexpected finds from Instructor Shirin Delsooz’s personal collection. Students are encouraged to touch, compare, notice, and choose what draws them in.
From there, we move into gentle, beginner-friendly sewing exercises designed to build confidence from steady straight stitching, mindful pressing, clean finishes, and small satisfying details.
We close with time to reflect, ask questions, and celebrate progress, however small.
Supplies:
Everything is provided.
You don’t have to bring anything though you are more than welcome to if you can! We have five sewing machines and one serger amongst participants. If you have an extra serger or a sewing machine, feel free to bring it, you’ll be able to work at your own pace and get comfortable with your own equipment.
We will provide the fabric, but you’re encouraged to bring your own if you’d like to work with something you personally love.
Instructor:
Meet your instructor, Shirin Delsooz of Havah Designs—a creative entrepreneur in fashion design and a stay-at-home mom who homeschools her two children. With a background in communications and marketing, Shirin is dedicated to making fashion accessible, fun, and inspiring for everyone. She creates digital sewing patterns, produces step-by-step YouTube tutorials, and even designs 3D-printed purses, bringing a modern approach to DIY fashion.
